Vee’s drink tips
- I like to make a batch of cold brew and leave it in the fridge overnight; that way, I can enjoy this drink whenever I want without having to wait for my coffee to cool down.
- You can use any kind of milk you prefer – whole, almond, oat, etc.
- If you don’t have vanilla syrup on hand, you can substitute it with some vanilla extract and sugar or any other sweetener of your choice. Or, make your own vanilla extract (LINK TO COLEY)!
- Don’t skip the pumpkin pie spice – it’s what gives this drink its delicious fall flavor!
- Use a milk frother to make your homemade pumpkin cream cold foam in a mason jar. If you don’t have one, no worries – just use a whisk!
- Add some extra pumpkin puree to your liking for an even stronger pumpkin flavor.
How to make Starbucks pumpkin cream cold brew
Making this delicious cold brew during the pumpkin season is actually super easy!
Step 1: Make pumpkin cream cold foam
Start by combining the heavy cream, milk, pumpkin puree, vanilla syrup, and pumpkin pie spice in a glass or mason jar. Use a milk frother to blend the ingredients for one to two minutes until it gets nice and foamy.
Note: If you don’t have a frother (electric whisk), no worries! Just put the lid on the jar and give it a good shake for about two minutes until you see those delightful bubbles forming. You’ll still get pumpkin cold foam!
Step 2: Pour your cold brew coffee
Now, grab another glass and fill it with some ice. Pour in some cold brew coffee, filling the glass about 2/3 of the way.
You can add in a splash of vanilla syrup if you desire a sweeter drink. Or, pour in some milk or half and half for a creamier texture.
Step 3: Top it off with pumpkin foam
And here comes the best part – top it all off with the pumpkin sweet cream.
Using a spoon, scoop up the pumpkin cream cold foam from your jar or container and gently place it on top of your cold brew. You can use as much or as little foam as you prefer – no judgment here!
Watch as it cascades down to create that beautiful layered look. You can also mix it in if you prefer – either way, it will be delicious!
You can also add a bit of whipped cream and a dash of pumpkin pie spice or cinnamon.
Frequently Asked Questions about Pumpkin Cold Brew
Here are the most common questions I get any time I share this pumpkin cream cold brew recipe. If you have any more questions, drop them for me in the comments below or DM me on Instagram!
Can I make this dairy-free?
Yes, you can! Just substitute the heavy cream with full-fat coconut cream, and use the dairy free milk of your choice (almond milk, oat milk, etc.) for the cold brew and pumpkin cold foam.
You can also skip the whipped cream on top or use a dairy-free alternative.
What kind of pumpkin puree should I use?
I recommend using canned pumpkin puree since it’s more convenient and easy to find. But you can also make your own at home!
Just make sure you grab a can of pure pumpkin puree and not pumpkin pie filling since it already has added sugar and spices.
How can I make this drink keto-friendly?
To make this pumpkin cream cold brew keto-friendly, you need to replace the sugar in the vanilla syrup with a sugar substitute like stevia or monk fruit sweetener. You can also skip it altogether and just use some vanilla extract. For the milk, opt for a low-carb option like almond milk or coconut milk.
Can I make this pumpkin coffee hot?
Yes, you can! Just heat up your cold brew and pumpkin cream cold foam separately, and then pour the coffee into a mug, top it off with your foam, and enjoy a delicious pumpkin spice latte.
Can I use regular hot coffee instead of cold brew?
You sure can! Just let the coffee cool down in the fridge before making this drink.
Keep in mind that using cold brew will result in a smoother and less acidic drink, so I highly recommend giving it a try. But hot coffee will work just fine, too!
How do I make my own cold brew coffee?
You can make your own cold brew coffee at home by mixing ground coffee with cold water and letting it sit for 12-24 hours. Then, strain the mixture through a cheesecloth or coffee filter and store it in the fridge until ready to use.
You can also buy a cold brew pitcher or use a French press to make a cold brew.
Does this taste like the Starbucks version?
Yes, it does! I’ve had many friends and family members try this recipe, and they all agree that it’s a pretty spot-on copycat of the Starbucks pumpkin cream cold brew.
But feel free to adjust the ingredients to your liking and make it your own!
What can I use to sweeten this drink instead of sugar?
If you don’t want to add any additional sweetener, you can use the natural sweetness from the pumpkin puree and vanilla syrup. But if you prefer a sweeter drink, try using honey, agave nectar, or maple syrup instead of regular sugar.
I’ve also heard you can add a drizzle of sweetened condensed milk, but I personally haven’t tried it!
