Looking for a fun, themed drink to celebrate Halloween this year? Look no further than this Hocus Pocus cocktail! Just like Sarah Sanderson from the movie, this drink is sure to have an enchanting, hypnotic effect on anyone who chooses to enjoy it! This is sure to become your favorite Halloween drink.
Oh, what a GLORIOUS MORNING!
Hocus Pocus is one of my favorite Disney Halloween movies to watch every year. And while I love all of the Sanderson sisters, Sarah has always made me smile the most.
She may not be the sharpest tool in the shed, but she’s the inspiration for my latest boozy concoction — the Hocus Pocus cocktail! It’s got a wickedly delicious mix of booze and sparkles, thanks to the edible glitter.
I usually mix this up for Disney movie marathons with my girlfriends, but it would also be a great Halloween cocktail for a costume party or a delicious All Hallows eve nightcap. Trust me, you’ll want to add making this drink to your list of spooky season traditions after you’ve tried it once!

✨ Drink tips
- This is my go-to cocktail shaker to make margarita drink recipes.
- I like to garnish with maraschino cherries and mint sprigs. It gives the finishing touch to this sparkly drink!
- The quality of your booze matters! There’s no need to reach for only top-shelf liquors, but you don’t want the bottom of the barrel either for the best-tasting drink.
- Don’t top the Hocus Pocus cocktail off with the club soda too early! For the best taste, it is important that the club soda is added right before you plan to serve the drink at your Halloween party.
- These are my favorite cocktail glasses.
✨ How to make the Sarah Sanderson Hocus Pocus cocktail
Combine all the ingredients in a large cocktail shaker with 1/4 cup of ice. Vigorously shake the drink to make sure it’s all mixed.
Then, pour the shaken Hocus Pocus Halloween cocktail over an ice-filled glass of your choice. Top off the drink with a splash of club soda and garnish with maraschino cherries and mint sprigs!
Here are the most common questions I get any time I share this Sarah Sanderson- inspired cocktail recipe. If you have any more questions, drop them for me in the comments below or DM me on Instagram!
Are all the alcohols used in this recipe gluten-free?
Yes, tequila, rum, and blue curacao are all gluten-free! For this recipe, I recommend using a blanco tequila, Kraken black spiced rum, and your choice of blue curacao.
You can even make this a little less boozy by using 1883 Routin Blue Curacao Syrup (which is non-alcoholic) in place of blue curacao liquor.
What is the best brand of tequila blanco?
There are so many great blanco tequila brands out there! For this recipe, I used Casamigos Blanco Tequila because it’s a smooth, crisp tequila that is perfect for cocktails.
Other great brands I recommend using (and have even used myself) are:
- Espolon Blanco
- Herradura Silver
