Where do you get the Monte Cristo at Disneyland?

The original Monte Cristo sandwich can be found at two restaurants in Disneyland:

  1. Blue Bayou
  2. Cafe Orleans

Both are located in New Orleans Square. They serve the sandwich with a side of fruit or pommes frites (french fries) and a dollop of tangy seasonal preserves for dipping.

Actually, at Cafe Orleans, they serve 2 different versions of the Monte Cristo Sandwich recipe:

  • Monte Cristo Sandwich – with Sliced Turkey, Ham, and Swiss
  • Triple Cheese Monte Cristo Sandwich – Brie, Swiss, and Mozzarella, which is great for vegetarians!

Can you order a gluten-free Monte Cristo sandwich at Disneyland?

Yes, you can! But shhhh – it’s a secret. Kind of.

Although it’s not on the allergy menu, you CAN preorder the gluten-free Monte Cristo sandwich at the Blue Bayou during lunch hours, 11 AM—3 PM.

There are just a few things you need to do first:

  1. Make a Dining Reservation via My Disney Experience, and make sure to note your allergy.
  2. Write an email to the Disneyland Special Diets Team requesting the sandwich for the day you made the reservation. Unfortunately, you can’t order on the same day as they only make a limited quantity of these.
  3. Make sure you send this email with a minimum of 15 days’ notice, or they may not be able to make you a sandwich.

  • These sandwiches are best enjoyed right away, but leftovers can be stored in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 2 days. They taste great, warm or cold.

  2. Whisk the egg and water together in a large mixing bowl. Add flour, salt, and baking powder and whisk until smooth.

  • Any leftovers can be stored in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 2 days. They can be enjoyed warm or cold.
  • Making these sandwiches for a crowd? Place them on a paper towel-lined sheet pan and pop them in the oven in a warm setting. This will keep them warm until you’re ready to serve them.
